Elias Missed Papa

It's been almost a week with Victor home, and he and Elias have practically been chained at the hip. It's pretty cute; Elias will stare at Victor until Victor notices him, and then bust out into a huge grin. They like each other - a lot.

First Solids!

It's official, Elias is eating! He seems to have been ready for awhile, but we decided to wait for Victor to return to embark on this adventure. To give a special shout out to his Latino roots, Elias' first food was avocado. We mixed it with breastmilk, but we imagine he'll like it better with some lime and salt - and maybe a margarita. (That will have to be postponed a bit.) He seems to really dig it. (Really, he would rather put his hands in it than have it in his mouth...)
Next will be sweet potato...

All the Fun of the Last Week

Well, we seem to have survived without Papa. He'll be home any minute. Here's a quick update of all the fun we've been having without him.
Last Saturday we went to Bremerton to celebrate Uncle Benji's birthday and to see the cousins. Elias was mostly interested in the tv. (He loves it - he literally won't take his eyes off of it, and will crane his neck in many directions to see what's on the tube. We've implemented a no-tv-while the baby's awake rule in our house.)
Elias has been spending lots of time with Grams and Gramps this week so Mama could get some work done and go to the gym. Gramps has been taking him on lots of walks in the sunshine, and Grams sits next to Elias in his special spot on the couch while they play.

Day 4 - Going Strong

Day 4 and Elias and Mama are making it. The little one is being a superstar baby, like he knows that's what needs to happen. We've got big plans for the weekend - ok, not really anything super exciting, but let's just say we won't be hanging around counting the minutes before Papa comes home.


This isn't from this week - but I thought I'd share a photo of Elias and Mama at work. Elias hangs out at the front desk in a bouncy chair entertaining all the folks who come in. (We happened to be color-coordinated on this day - purely coincidental, I promise.)

Mama & Elias Flying Solo

Victor decided he missed Texas so much, he was going back. He left this morning to take the school kids he works with on an adventure trek, starting in Austin and making their way to Big Bend.

So, it's Mama and Elias on their own. So far, so good. We just did the usual Tuesday stuff - library lap-sit/sing-along, coffee and cinnamon bread with Abbie and Asher, and a nice walk. Tomorrow we'll do the usual Wednesday stuff. We're thinking the perks are that we can eat cereal for dinner, and we can boycott bathing and no one will be the wiser.

Other developments for Elias are that he laughs hysterically most of the time now. Seriously, he is kind of a mad man. He throws a fit when he drops a toy and it's not instantly handed back to him. We also scored a stroller at a garage sale last weekend. (I was going to take a pic today when we were out walking, but we had a flat tire, and I got distracted...maybe next time.)

And - he's growing. I know I keep saying that he's getting chunky, but this time I mean it. I had to switch out almost all of his clothes yesterday. Last week he weighed in at almost 15 pounds!


Grams and Gramps brought this for Elias. It entertained him through a full adult dinner - success!
