Xmas in PT

West Coast, whaddup?

This morning Elias and Victor took their usual morning walk and headed down to the water (Elias' favorite destination nowdays) Elias is walking now and with that comes a new set of awareness and responsibility. So being by the water can be an exciting yet unpredictable experience. Just ask Victor about his frozen feet.

We had an early Xmas dinner at uncle Ben and aunt Stefanie's home on the 23rd and Elias had a blast playing with his cousins Ali and Elliot and uncle Aaron. Of course grandpa and grandma were at hand playing the role of Santa Claus. Here's the Paz family holiday montage...

Year One

So we have slacked off! So much has been happening but its not an excuse. Since the last post we have experienced the joys of baby talk, crawling at the speed of light, standing, and now walking. The pictures will tell the rest...

Halloween

Elias had a great first Halloween. He was a little weary of the hat portion of his costume, but he loved the monkey suit! He thought it was especially funny to show his friends.

Times Flies When You're Mobile!

Uh, I don't know where to begin. Seriously, I have no idea what's happened in the last month. We went from thinking about crawling to attempting to walk. Elias isn't quite walking yet, but we're getting close.

Elias is also getting a few more teeth, and has been fighting some sort of cold for the last week. This makes our really easy baby a little less easy...

Amidst all of these changes, we had a visit from Victor's mom and sister, Lindsay. We had a blast with them, Elias in particular. Who can argue with 24/7 playmates?

Big Boy

Ok, it's been too long, and so much has been happening. Elias is now a full-on crawling baby. He also stands, walks assisted, and flings himself at anything remotely intersting. (Seriously, two hands are required for holding...) He's still loving life and getting excited about just about everything. Hopefully the pictures will tell the rest.

Elias' New Tricks

There is so much to report about what Elias has been up to lately. It seems like he is into anything and everything. He's still not crawling, but can sufficiently get himself wherever he wants to go. He looks at the other babies that crawl with complete admiration - it's hilarious. He gets really excited for them when they're cruising around. He's now on to trying to pull himself up and taking steps while holding Papa's hands. He also has started to turn some of the sounds he makes into words. He's saying mama, bye (it sounds like buh), and hey/hi. It's all pretty cute, in our opinion. Elias has also decided that he's over pureed food. If it doesn't come from our plate, he doesn't want it. He has also started waving and we saw a hand clap once, but not since then.

Double-fisting green beans. He's turned into quite the green bean junkie - gnawing on them raw. He likes them so much he busted into a ziploc bag in the diaper bag to get to them.

Elias looking studious and mischievous.

Getting into pajamas before an outdoor evening concert at the state park. He was pretty stoked about getting to go to bed late.

Elias thinks this picture makes him look fat, and he asked me not to post it. I still thought it was cute.

The Paz-Griswolds Take a Little Road Trip

We call it the Paz-Griswolds because if you've ever seen a National Lampoon's Vacation, you know exactly what we're talking about. We took a trip east of the mountains to Wenatchee for some sunshine. Elias was a champ, but by the trip back was a little skeptical every time we put him back in the carseat. We went with Rachel's parents, who were very excited to have Elias along for the entertainment.

Elias hanging out at the park.

Getting as close to the tree branches as he can get.

Rachel got to take her first bike ride since last February - she needed to stop and drink water a lot - it was hot and her butt hurt from the seat.

Elias looking devilish as he grabs a handful of Rachel's hair. What started as giving hugs and smooches turned into a full-on beating...

Elias was pretty stoked that it was warm enough for him to mostly hang out in a diaper. He also used the carpet in the hotel room as some good traction for practicing those crawling moves - he is so close!

Elias with his first stint in a swimming pool. He was super excited, drinking lots of the pool water and splashing.

Teasing Grandpa. He was definitely disappointed when we got home and it was back to the tiny bathtub.

A Day in the Life

Elias has had a busy month, doing lots of playing, attempting to crawl, trying to figure out how to sleep in a crib, trying new foods, and getting more teeth. Most of this is not so outstanding on film, but here are a few photos we came up with.

Waking up with Mama.

Getting stuck under the couch again from all that scooting backwards.

Can you tell this happens a lot? Elias still looks surprised when he doesn't actually go towards what he was headed for - he can't figure out why it's getting further away.

Reading with Gramps.

These pictures were the other night at dinner. We've been introducing zucchini, but Elias wasn't having it. So we decided to go with yogurt. He's had it before, but always mixed with something. We were laughing so hard at the faces he made, we were crying. (Plus, he was having a really good hair day, so we thought that merited extra pictures.)

In the end, Elias ended up with a pea pod from Papa's dinner plate that he chewed on happily for quite some time.

Father's Day

Father's Day, according to Victor, is a man day, so the men get to do whatever they want. Here are Victor and Elias with their shirts off, because apparently that's what men do on a man day. They promptly lounged on the couch to watch a soccer game.

More lounging...

Elias at the park with Grandpa Ray and cousin Elliott. Elias is becoming quite a fan of the swings.

Elias with Papa, both sporting guayaberas. (Yes, they planned it...)

Some Catch Up Photos

Whoops - has it been almost a month? Here are some photos of the last month to get you caught up on the life and times of Elias...Oh, it looks like we didn't take many photos this month...

Elias can now scoot backwards, and often ends up stuck - like here with the couch.

Elias waking up with his AC/DC pajamas...sleeveless is perfect with that many arm rolls.

More Teeth

Elias has sprouted two new teeth this morning. They are on the top, but not the middle - the two on either side of the middle. We're about to have ourselves a little vampire.
He's been shoving everything in sight in his mouth to try to make them feel better. He put another baby's head in his mouth yesterday at story hour. He couldn't quite get his mouth to grasp on to any significant portion of his head, so Elias just starting licking him...pretty hilarious.

Elias with his favorite teething toy, G-raff. It was thought lost for awhile, but someone actually recognized it as Elias', and returned it. The reunion was joyful for both!
